The Glebsig Foundation has entered its eighteenth month of trying to cancel a vassalage agreement officials insist was entered into accidentally.

Glebsig representatives state they believed they were simply opening a proposed contract to review terms before somehow becoming locked into a legally binding subjugation contract with their new overlords, the Tzynn Empire.

“I just assumed there’d be some sort of 30-day integration-free trial,” Glebsig governor Meblax told Xenonion. “Instead we’re on some kind of Vassal Premium+ plan where, in exchange for surrendering all foreign policy autonomy and paying a hefty monthly resource fee, we get ad-free shared sensors.”

Meblax explained the government only realised it had been enrolled in the vassalage after six months, when recurring payments to the Tzynn appeared on the annual budget.

It took a further three months to locate a ‘manage subscription’ option before Tzynn vassal service representatives explained that the Glebsig had agreed to a five-year minimum term contract that would automatically renew unless cancelled in writing at least three working days before expiry.

The Tzynn rejected accusations of deceptive practices, stating the agreement was clearly outlined in small-font text beneath several lengthy expandable contract sections relating to varying degrees of voting right restrictions, overlord holding constructions and access to a suite of nearly fifty unrelated niche Azrobe editing software products.

“We have once again reminded governments to carefully read diplomatic proposals before accepting them,” Zorak Zek of the pro-autonomy faction Pops Against Enslavement told Xenonion. “We’re seeing growing numbers of empires accidentally become subjects because they confused ‘Offer vassalisation’ with ‘become subject.’

At the time of press Glebsig officials found a ‘Renegotiate Agreement’ button, only to find themselves at war with the Tzynn as part of an ‘early independence fee.’
